InnoELLI Senior - new models for taking care of the elderly

InnoELLI Senior Programme is carried out in 2006-2007 in an area covering 7 Regional Councils of Southern Finland, South Finland Regional Alliance, including the region Uusimaa. It is a part of the Innovative Actions under the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The central idea is to promote and develop care of the elderly in South Finland through funded projects. Implementation of the programme and its projects will come to an end on 31 March 2008.

InnoELLI Senior projects create integrated service models that will enable public, private and third-sector organisations to adopt new working methods and provide technology-enabled (in particular, IT-enabled) cost-effective services. New work methods network different kinds of service providers and facilitate the adoption of new and often technology enabled services in the elderly care sector.

Standardisation of cooperation models will enable small service providers to cost-effectively serve large volumes and geographical areas. The projects are extensive and involve partnerships across provincial borders.

The projects that are being funded support cooperation between private, public and third-sector bodies that put technology and innovation into practice, but also coordinate and disseminate models of best practice.

The funding should also enable small service providers to access the relevant markets, where appropriate. The aim of testing the service models is to mainstream them all over the region, and eventually throughout the country. The strategic goal is to enable the organisations to network internationally, and to develop the cooperation models in such a way that these can be applied in neighbouring regions. The programme is also intended to develop South Finland's "elderly care services" cluster.
