The Helsinki-Uusimaa Region is expected to grow rapidly in the future, as well. Therefore, the most important goal for the regional land use plan is to steer the growth in a sustainable way. Helsinki-Uusimaa region European leader again 14.02.2018
The Helsinki-Uusimaa region has yet again won top billing as the best mid-sized European region for foreign investments. The survey by the Financial Times ranked Helsinki-Uusimaa first in the category which compared the potential of regions with the population of 1,5–4 million for 2018 and 2019. The region was followed by North of Holland, Greater Copenhagen, Hamburg region and Stockholm county.
FinEst Link collaborating with new tech developers 22.12.2017
The FinEst Link project, studying the feasibility of an undersea railway tunnel between Tallinn and Helsinki, launched a new technologies challenge in October. It was an open challenge to companies and other parties to present alternative solutions for rapid connection between the cities. Six participating companies, including for instance FinEst Bay Area, Hyperloop One and SwissRapide, submitted a written proposal on how the connectivity could be improved in the future.
