Mission, Vision and Tasks
Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Council is a regional developer, creating conditions for
wellbeing, economic development and a safe and an attractive physical
environment for its citizens.
The Regional Council is also a strategic planner, a land-use planner and a coordinator, as well as a consensus builder for the Helsinki-Uusimaa Region.
The vision of regional development is to make the Helsinki-Uusimaa Region the most competitive, safe and attractive metropolitan region in Northern Europe.
To achieve these goals, the Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Council is engaged in coordination and consensus building, i.e. in mobilizing actors and resources at governmental, regional and local levels to set common regional development priorities and to optimize the use of regional strengths and assets.
The Regional Council promotes the Baltic Sea Region as a leading knowledge region in Europe and as a neighbour to Russia.
The main operational tasks of the Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Council are regional development, regional land-use planning and international cooperation.
